Purple Cow by Seth Godin
If it is not remarkable it is invisible, and AI-powered is no longer remarkable.
Three takeaways for AI PMs
- Design the remark into the product, not the launch
- Make a difficult promise and keep it every time
- Safe is risky, and generic is invisible: Agents produce the median by default, so if your agent built your landing page and a competitor's built theirs, you have two brown cows.
Do this Monday
- In your next spec review, add a field for the one sentence a user says about this feature to a colleague, and send back any spec whose sentence mentions AI rather than the outcome.
- Before the next launch, read ten recent transcripts where the model was wrong and note which promise you broke; fix that before adding another feature.
- This week, put your landing page beside three competitors' pages with logos hidden and ask a colleague to tell them apart in thirty seconds; failure means a brown cow.
